Taste of Liberia’s 1st annual Gala Event to celebrate Liberia’s independence, food, culture, and tourism. Liberian innovative cuisine sampling event, awards ceremony recognizing American and Liberian individuals and organizations pivotal in the Ebola relief effort.
Taste of Liberia Taste-Off Competition (1 pm-3 pm)
Judges: Chef Amalia Moreno-Damgaard, Patwin Lawrence, and Suzanne Madison
Competitors: Patricia Soe and Isabel Lucy Zubah
A celebration of Liberia’s rich foods and historical heritage with the USA, Caribbean, and West Africa featuring a “Taste Off” competition of the BEST chefs, caterers, culinary students, and amateur cooks showcasing their creativity and love of Liberian foods.
Featuring a blue ribbon panel of judges from media, politics, and the community. Winners in each category will receive prizes, recognition, and special promotions!!!
Competition Categories
-Best Collard Greens
-Best Corn Bread
-Best Jollof Rice
-Best Traditional Liberian (Well known Liberian traditional dishes)
-Best Nouvelle Liberian (New and Innovative creations of Liberian dishes, desserts, and pastries)
-Open to all cooks of all nationalities (professional, amateur, students, etc…)
-Contestants can enter 1 or multiple categories
-$500 in cash prizes ($100 per competition category), promotions, and media exposure

Featuring Performances by: Minister Naomi Johnson-Christian Praise Dance, RizeUpMuzikGroup-M’Press1Love and Ru Bwoy O, Titambe West African Dance Ensemble-Liberian Cultural Drumming and Dance

-Red Carpet event with Pics, video, and interviews of guests as they arrive
